In Memoriam



Erinayo Wilson Oryema
1/01/1917 - 16/02/1977


1964 - 1971: First African Inspector General of the Uganda Police Force,
1971 - 1974: Appointed Minister of Land, Mineral and Water Resources
1974 - 1977: Appointed Minister of Land, Housing and Physical Planning.

It is 30 years since the brutal murder of Lt. Col Erinayo Wilson Oryema, during the rule of Idi Amin.
Reported as a ˜tragic car accident’, he was murdered together with the late Archbishop Reverend Janani Luwum, of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Boga in The Democratic Republic of The Congo, and the then Internal Affairs minister, Mr Charles Oboth- Ofumbi on the 16th February 1977.

Gertrude Auma Oryema, current Administrator of the late E W Oryema Estate, on behalf of the family of the late Erinayo Wilson Oryema would like to wish the families of Janani Luwum and Oboth-Ofumbi well, during this period of remembrance.
